Festival News

We are very excited to have this new website up and running.  We hope you find it easy to navigate and full of valuable information.  Please contact us with any questions or comments.

We are especially looking forward to the improved efficiency of our operations as a result of this site and its new online registration capabilities.  We wish to thank all the applicants who choose to apply online this year.  We will be charging a $3.00 paper handling fee for all applications not submitted online.

Due to the rather late Christmas holidays, the deadline for registrations has been extended to January 20, 2012 to allow sufficient time for teachers and students to prepare their applications.

The Kiwanis Music Festival of Guelph would like to announce that we have received a grant from the Guelph Community Foundation in the amount of $1000 for the capital purchase of a new computer.  We are very grateful for this generous grant and would like to extend our most sincere thanks to the Guelph Community Foundation and its board, donors, and committees.

The Kiwanis Music Festival of Guelph would like to honour the late Rev. Doug Sloan for his years of service and dedication to the festival by setting up a scholarship fund in his name.  Doug passed away suddenly this summer and will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all who knew him.  He was a model citizen, a dedicated family man, a talented musician, and a gracious and generous individual.

This year a bursary in the amount of $1100 has been dedicated to help partially subsidize busing costs for school groups participating in the festival.  An application form will soon be available for download from this website.  Funds will be allocated proportionately and the amounts awarded will depend on the number of applicants.

Special Orchestra Scholarships will again be awarded to the top solo performers in the disciplines of Strings and Brass & Woodwinds who are also members of the Guelph Youth Symphony Orchestra.  This year, new Scholarships for the best overall performance of a Canadian composition will also be awarded for Voice, Guitar, Strings and Piano to encourage students to perform works by Canadian composers.
